Where we invest

With a focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland, we invest across Western Europe.

When investing in businesses that are growing at a fast rate, we believe that it is particularly important to reduce execution and operational risk.
For this reason, we find the business and investment environment in the German, Austrian and Swiss region very attractive.

The economic stability, reliable infrastructure and focus on high quality process and governance in this region allow us to focus on helping our portfolio companies to grow.

As a German-speaking team located in the region, we do not have to contend with the language, cultural and structural barriers placed by investors from outside the region.

We find the German, Austrian and Swiss region an attractive area for investment for a number of reasons:

The region is a concentrated market of approximately 2.5m SMEs.
SMEs in Germany employ more than in any other European country.

It is an innovative region, with Switzerland in 1st place for patent applications per capita, with Germany and Austria in 8th and 11th position, respectively.

At this time, the region is the world’s largest exporter of goods and services, ahead of the USA, China, and anywhere else.

The region is a well-resourced, active market with more growth capital and late stage venture deals completed than in any other European region.

“We have been impressed by the entrepreneurial, hands-on spirit and commercial acumen of the team. This growth capital financing will enable us to continue our successful international expansion in new, emerging markets whilst further strengthening our market position in central Europe.” Guntram Geppert, CEO of Geppert GmbH

More than just financial returns

We invest with a double bottom line, creating value for our investors and for our global environment.

We have found that any company can create sustainable value by actively addressing environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues in their overall strategies.

We have also found that companies actively addressing ESG have reduced operational reputational risk, making them more attractive to suppliers, customers, strategic buyers and public market investors.

Our sustainable investment criteria are based on internationally accepted guidelines:

UN Principles for Responsible Investment

European Sustainable Investment Forum

Global Impact Investing Rating System

Oekom Research

Forum Nachhaltige Geldanlagen (FNG)
